Types of Investments

The Foundation has 3 investment options:

  • Short-Term Investment - This money market option allows a church to invest at least $5,000 at better than bank savings account rates.  The investor needs to understand that the interest rate in this option may vary; in fact, it can change daily.  This option is a great asset for a church that may on any given day need cash; but, in the meantime, may provide a good return on the church's investment.

  • Fixed Rate Investment - This option allows a church to invest at least $5,000 for about one year up to five (5) years, and to lock in a good interest rate.  The initial term and the interest rate will be agreed upon at the time of investment, based upon current rates.

  • Long-Term Investment Portfolio - This fund is designed for a church to invest at least $5,000 for up to five (5) years or more.  These monies are invested with the Foundation's other long-term deposits.  Under this option, the church will earn the same interest rate as the Foundation's funds, minus a small fee.

For more information, contact Doug Lohrey at 303-771-2480 pr 1-888-771-2480 ext. 224.

How and where is this money used?
The Baptist Foundation uses the money to help churches.  We loan money to churches that are looking to build, remodel or improve their facilities.  When they pay their interest to the Foundation, the earned interest is then reinvested and used to help other churches.  This principle is significantly different from what happens in the local bank.  Our other goal is to provide investment opportunities that allow churches to earn a good return on their investment, while their money is used to enhance the ministry of other churches.
